Free Tucson LAN, Feb. 23rd - [REC]king Crew

Postby fodder on Wed Feb 07, 2007 5:19 pm

What?: [REC]king Crew's February LAN: BF2, UT2004, and CS:S
When?: Friday, February 23rd 6pm-2am
Where?: Saguaro Canyon Ev. Free - 10111 E. Old Spanish Tr.
Permission Slip: 02-23-07_permslip.doc

Who:
All ages are welcome so bring a friend/brother/whatever to play. (If you are under 18 years old you'll need to bring a signed permission slip and if you are under 13 you'll need to bring a parent/guardian. :-)
If you know you are coming, please RSVP in this thread to help us plan.

Cost:
Free! (unless you want to pitch in on pizza)

Guidelines:
- No alcohol or drugs allowed (we make an exception for caffeine :-).
- No porn (including screensavers, wallpaper, etc.)
- Headsets only - NO SPEAKERS!

Food and Drink: We will order pizza with a cutoff time of 7:30pm so we can hopefully have it by 8:00. Anyone wanting Pizza just needs to pitch in $5 cash before we order - if you miss the deadline - we're sorry, but we only order once a night. If you don't want pizza, you are welcome to bring your own snacks (but NO POPCORN). It's bring your own caffeine/soda, but a fridge is available for drinks. Sharpies will be there to allow you to mark your stuff.

What Do I Need To Bring?:
This is a BYOC (bring your own computer) event (yes, that includes the mouse, monitor, keyboard and power cords), a headset, a power strip and a CAT5 cable. If you have a spare computer you would like to allow others to use, we would really appreciate it. AND...the tables at our location don't like most optical mice, so BRING A MOUSE PAD!!! (or two!)

Game Patches and Maps: All patches and maps will be available for local download at the LAN, but if you want to start playing right when you get there, here's what you'll need:

BF2: Patch 1.41
UT2004: Patch 3369 (all other downloads now available by automatic download inside the game)
CS:S: Update through Steam

Tournaments:
Tournament details will be posted soon! Along with pictures of the prizes (from what Echovoice gave us after EV2!!!)

TOURNAMENT INFO!

Postby fodder on Wed Feb 07, 2007 8:19 pm

Here is the info on the Tournaments:

UT2004 #1: Standard DM Competition, Start time - approx. 9pm
Everyone will play the following DeathMatch maps (not TDM) of varying sizes (no mutators on any of the maps). The bottom four players will be eliminated at the end of each map until only four players remain. Those four play one final round.

First round maps: (more can be added, as needed)
DM-CBP1-Downgrave (no mutators)
DM-CBP2-Drakonis
DM-UCMP1-BloodRun
DM-UCMP2-Sublimity

The final round will be projected on the big screen as a spectator. A player will be followed until they die, then the next player will be spec'ed.

Final round map:
DM-UCMP2-1on1-Smelter

UT2004 #2: Instagib 300 point DM, Start time - approx. 9:45pm
This is a single round DM tourney that we are adding based on it's success at EV2! All players will vote for a medium-sized map and the first to 300 points wins.

BF2: Team based, Best of three maps, Start time - approx. 10pm
An [REC] admin will organize teams just before the tourney and depending on the number of people we will decide then whether or not to include bots. This is best out of three rounds, with all points being added up at the end and the team with the most collective points wins.

Maps:
Mashtuur City - 15 minute round, 16 player map size
Sharqi - 15 minute round, 32 player map size
Karkand - 15 minute round, 32 player map size

CS:S: Team based, Single elimination, Start time - approx. 11pm
An [REC] admin will organize teams just before the tourney. Up to four person teams will be placed in a single elimination bracket indicating who they will play and on what server. (The number of servers will depend on available equipment and number of teams participating.) Each bracket will consist of three rounds with the two participating teams alternating sides and the starting sides determined by coin toss.

Note: The above tournaments are what we are planning. Any number of things can alter plans. :-) The biggest of these being the number of participants in any given tournament. So we reserve the right to make changes/cancellations/postponements as needed to keep the night fun and moving along!

Prize information will be coming soon!!!

Ok, one more announcement:

I now have, in my grubby little hands, two, not one, but two XBOX 360s along with two copies (each) of Gears of War and Halo 2!
All of which I am planning on bringing to the LAN to test out some stuff. :D
I only have four controllers, though, so if someone wants to bring some extra ones we could do eight people on Halo. I don't think GOW can split the screen more than once.
